Pupil Premium Funding

'Pupil Premium' is government funding which is currently allocated to all schools.

The level of this funding is determined by:

  • The number of children from low-income families who are known to be eligible for free school meals (FSM)
  • The number of children who have been 'looked after' continuously by Social Services for more than six months
  • The number of children who have been in receipt of FSM within the last six years

It is important to note that not all FSM children have Special Educational Needs.  Indeed, these children represent a whole range of ability.  Therefore, in planning how to spend our Pupil Premium funding, we review the needs of each eligible child and consider whether they would benefit from additional tutoring to close any academic gaps that they might have; and whether they would benefit from direct financial support from the school so that they can access additional opportunities and experiences (both inside and beyond school).
