Children First!

ELSA Support

ELSA (Emotional Literacy Support Assistant)

ELSA is an initiative developed and supported by Educational Psychologists.  It recognises that children learn better and are happier in school if their emotional needs are also being met.  Mrs Roper, Miss Brassell, Miss Whale and Mrs Hill provide our ELSA sessions in school.

The majority of the work is delivered on a 1:1 basis, but sometimes can be delivered in small groups especially if it is about social and friendship skills.  ELSA sessions take place in our Sunshine Room which provides a calm, safe space for the children to feel supported and nurtured.

In our ELSA sessions we aim to provide support for a wide range of emotional needs including:

*Recognising and Managing Emotions

*Self-Esteem

*Social Skills

*Friendship Skills/Issues

*Anger Management

*Loss and Bereavement

*Low Self Esteem

*Relationships

*Family Separation

*Anxiety

*Behaviour

If you feel that your child would benefit from a block of ELSA sessions please contact Holly Purnell (SENDCo)
